Prof. Jun Sang joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in December 2004 as a Visiting Research Scholar from China. He is working with Dr. Mohammad Alam, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, on the development of Algorithms for Digital Watermarking.
Dr. Mohammad S. Alam, Professor and Chair, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering presented an invited seminar on "Progress Through Higher Education - Prospects and Challenges," in the United International University (Co-sponsored by the Bangladesh Computer Society), Dhaka, Bangladesh, on December 28, 2004.
Dr. Aurangzeb Khan's one of the recent research article published in Applied Physics Letter (85, 5218, 2004) has been selected by the nature magazine for the News and Views section, in December 16, 2004 issue.
Dr. Mohammad S. Alam, Professor and Chair, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering presented an invited seminar on "Fuel Cell Operated Smart Energy Management and Control," in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, on July 17, 2004.
Dr. Mohammad S. Alam, Professor and Chair, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering presented an invited seminar on "Image Processing," in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faittih University, Istanbul, Turkey on June 2, 2004.
Dr. Mohammad S. Alam, Professor and Chair, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering presented an invited Paper (Co-authored with graduate student H. C. Loo) on "Fringe-adjusted Joint Transform Correlation Based Invariant Target Tracking in FLIR Image Sequences at the SPIE Conference on Optical Pattern Recognition which was held in Orlando, Florida during April 12-16, 2004.
Dr. Aurangzeb Khan, Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received the 2004 Engineering Professor of the Year Award from Tau Beta Pi Honor Society, College of Engineering, University of South Alabama.
Dr. Arifur Rahman, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received the 2004 Excellence in Teaching Award from College of Engineering, University of South Alabama.
Dr. Mohammad S. Alam, Professor and Chair, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering presented an invited seminar on "Real Time Pattern Recognition and Tracking in FLIR Video Sequences," in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of New Orleans, New Orleans, on March 5, 2004.
Dr. Mohammad S. Alam, Professor and Chair, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has been appointed as the Lead Guest Editor for a special issue on "Trends in Pattern Recognition Algorithms, Architectures, and Devices" for the Journal of Optical Engineering. This special issue has been scheduled for publication in August 2004.
